All guests are expected to be respectful to staff and other clients. No drugs, alcohol, or weapons are permitted; however, we offer a locked bin to place any of these items in during their stay. NO Threats of violence or aggression towards staff or other guests will be tolerated and are reason for immediate restriction of service.
We try to connect clients with whatever supports that they require, they just need to ask. We have different visiting partners that come on a regular basis, but we try to reach out to whomever or whatever they indicate that they need. We also have a calendar of events posted in the shelter.

Not at this time but we are hoping to in the future. We do have local organizations that have those types of programs nearby, such as Nova Scotia Works CANSA.
1. Staff Training: Our staff undergo rigorous training in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, and crisis intervention. This equips them with the skills needed to handle various situations effectively.
2. Security Measures: We have implemented comprehensive security measures such as surveillance cameras, controlled entry points, and security personnel to monitor the premises and respond swiftly to any potential threats.
3. Collaboration with Community Resources: We work closely with local law enforcement agencies and community organizations to address safety concerns and coordinate responses when necessary.
4. Safe Sleeping Arrangements: We ensure that sleeping areas are well-lit, properly ventilated, and equipped with emergency exits. Bedding and sleeping arrangements are provided to promote comfort and reduce the risk of injury.
5. Health and Hygiene Protocols: Regular sanitation and hygiene protocols are enforced to prevent the spread of illnesses and maintain a clean environment. This includes providing access to handwashing facilities, personal protective equipment, and regular cleaning of common areas.
6. Conflict Resolution Procedures: Clear protocols are in place to address conflicts or disputes among shelter participants. Mediation and counseling services are available to help resolve issues peacefully.
7. Emergency Response Plan: We have developed and regularly review an emergency response plan to address natural disasters, medical emergencies, or other crises that may arise. This plan includes evacuation procedures and communication protocols to ensure the safety of all participants.
8. Client Support Services: In addition to providing shelter, we offer support services such as counseling, case management, and access to resources to help individuals address the underlying causes of homelessness and work towards stable housing.
By implementing these measures and fostering a supportive community environment, we strive to ensure the safety and well-being of all shelter participants. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our staff for assistance.
Call the shelter at (902)-669-1935 to see if we are able to accept donations at that time.
